Teaching Assistant - International District (Seattle)

Denise Louie Education Center (DLEC) is a multi-cultural Head Start program serving children and families in south Seattle and SeaTac. Head Start operates at three sites: International District, Beacon Hill and Lake Washington Apartments. Early Head Start provides home based services and group socialization in Beacon Hill and in the community.

TEACHING ASSISTANT - Assists the lead teacher in planning and implementing individualized, daily educational program for a group of pre-school aged children in a multicultural, multilingual, bias free environment.

Specific Job Requirements for this Position
1. CDA or AA degree or higher - a degree in Early Childhood Education a plus
2. Previous work or volunteer experience working with 3-5 year old children
3. Able to lift and potentially carry a child weighing up to 50 pounds
4. Able to routinely kneel, bend, crouch and sit on the floor for extended periods of time
5. Able to stand, walk and sit on child sized chairs throughout the day
6. Food Handlers Permit
8. Able to communicate in English verbally and in writing
9. Bilingual in a language spoken by DLEC parents preferred

Assist with general maintenance, organization, and security of the facility.
Provide support and/or attendance to center meetings, parent trainings, etc.
